However, when you combine a good sale with coupons and CVS’s Extra Care rewards system, you can get great products for less than the bargain brands. This purchase only cost me $7 out of pocket. After Extra Care Bucks and an iBotta rebate, it was only $5.

Question: What kind of savings did you find this week? 

Walmart

 

This week, I scored some huge savings at Walmart on a small number of items. Though shopping at Walmart typically cannot score you as many good deals as shopping at a regular grocery store, I will occasionally swing in there for a few items. That’s especially if I need to get breakfast items at 6:00 in the morning before the regular supermarkets open. 🙂

The thing that made this trip a great deal is Walmart’s Ad-Match policy in regard to Buy One Get One deals in Florida. Walmart will price-match other stores’ buy one get one free deals at the Walmart price. So, that box of cereal with a regular price of $5.19 at Winn-Dixie may have a regular price of $4.10 at Walmart. When you price-match Winn-Dixie’s BOGO at Walmart, you will be charged $4.10 for the first box instead of the $5.19 Winn-Dixie. That turned into a tremendous deal on Smithfield bacon when I combined the deal with coupons. Here’s how it worked out.

This would have been $3.00 each at Winn-Dixie.

I don’t think Walmart’s BOGO price match policy is worth the hassle of planning a full grocery trip around it, but it’s useful when you need a few things to fill in between regular grocery trips.

I didn’t need a lot of items this week, but I got what I needed at a very good price. One lesson that can be learned from this trip is to always check your receipts before leaving the store. I had a $2.00 off Seattle’s Best Coffee coupon, and I realized that it did not scan at the register. Thankfully, I caught that before leaving the parking lot and was able to go back to the cashier, get the coupon, and get refunded at the service counter for the value of the coupon.
